Hi all - We're contemplating the purchase of a 2H BP trailer, and thought we had our choice pretty much made; a 2004 Hawk, nearly mint, for around $8300 (fair price, yes/no?)  Then, up pops a 2005 CM Circuit Champ, also nearly mint, for about $5000 - quite a difference, and a year newer.  The dealers are within 10 miles of each other, so it's not a regional pricing thing.  The same dealer with the CM showed us a '99 Gore, not nearly mint, for $5500.  When I asked why the older not-so-nice Gore was more expensive than the newer, very nice CM, he was very vague about reasons.  So, my question is, quality and construction-wise, how does a CM compare to a Gore and Hawk?  Is there something about the CM that makes them generally less expensive than the other two brands?  And are the differences something I need to consider for safety and usefulness?  Thanks a lot for any info.

You need to look at construction type.  The Hawk is a composite, aluminum skin on a galvaneal frame.  I think, but am not sure, that the CM is an all steel trailer.  Better ask about the Gore - all aluminum, all steel, or composite.  Also compare dimensions - height, width, stall length.

hawk are really nice trailers and are skin over steel constructions, not too familiar with CM, but as others have stated you want to look for: dimensions (stalls, height, tack room) and also axle rating, extra lights and other accessories. Check the tires as well....

Where are you located?  If I remember right the CM Circut Champ is a 2 horse straight load traielr and I bought a new one in 2007 for under 5-k!

As to you question about the Gore price being the same, it could very well be a consignment trailer and that is what the customer wants for it.  Who knows for sure.  But I would check the trailer search on this site for new CM dealers close to you and price a new one before spending 5-k for a used one.

I have had a few CM and S&H trailer, while the are cheaper than the other models you have listed they are a well built trailer.

Here is a 2006 CM circut champ from a dealer on this site for $2995.00.

Listing #  224673

I did not see any new circut champs listed, but there is some NEW play day models listed from $3900 to just under $5000.

We are presently a dealer for Hawk trailers, and have in the past been a dealer for CM products.  The Circuit Champ and the Hawk are two very different products.  The CM is all steel, and has a smaller dimension body than the Hawk.  The Hawk trailer has a fiberglass roof and fenders,  and as previously stated; an aluminum exterior with a galvanized frame.  Fit and finish is very good on a Hawk.  Don't just look at PRICE, but at the features of both products.  The Hawk tends to resale pretty well, also.
