OK, I am thinking of getting a newer trailer..ya, aren't we all right!! SO how do I go about finding out what my current trailer is worth? Do I haul it around to different dealers and ask for an appraisal? Do they do that? I don't want to deal with a salesman trying to sell me something just yet..I just need an idea of the value so I can proceed from there..talk to the bank / financing, etc. I haven't decided what kind I want but I know what ammenities I am looking for...any thoughts??? THANKS

The best way is to check comparable trailers on line and HTW for pricing. There presently is no "Blue Book" for trailers. Right now its becoming a buyers market for used trailers, or anything horse related, especially in your area of MI and IL.

There are a whole lot of trailers listed for sale on this site, surely you can do a comparision to find out the value of yours,............ hint, hint, look at the ones that have SOLD, that's where you want your price point to be. Unless you have a pig in the poke trailer, then it could be worth alot, more or less.

LOL...thanks for the tips...I have searched this sight....practially daily, and I have yet to find a trailer "like" mine ..just a couple of the same make, but no other model. AND I am not sure if it would be better to sell mine outright, or trade in... I do appreciate your help..and I bet you hear these types of questions all the time. THANKS

If it is a LQ model trailer, like 4 STAR, Sundowner or something like that you can look it up on nada.com in the rv trailer section and there is some major trailer manufactures with LQ'S listed.

I had a 1989 WW three horse slant to sell and had no idea, so I called the dealer where it was originally purchased. He was very nice, gave me a figure that I thought was high, so I reduced the price and had people lined up to buy it. So, he knew better than I did what it was worth, but I got it sold for an amount I was comfortable with and quickly. Good luck!

Good point Gabz..sold does not indicate price sold for. I will keep that in mind. And I am aware that selling in Spring summer is a better time to sell than now... I want to find what I want..or as close to it as I can get for the $$$, and this might take awhile. As far as going to the dealer, I purchased off an individual..I have no idea where they bought it. Keep the comments coming..I learn something new everyday and every little bit helps

Sometimes private individuals have "wishing prices" listed on the net. Seems dealer prices may sometimes be a little more accurate to real value. In general..... not always.

Since I had paid cash for my last trailer (2H BP) and then financed the new GN, I wasn't in a rush to sell to sell the BP.
Price it higher ... it always makes someone feel good to think they got a "deal"...
Take the older one to horse shows, ropings, pennings, Or hunter paces, (LOL) clinics, etc. in your area. Hang out for a 2 hours or so with your trailer for sale.

I have considered selling it myself...price it higher than willing to sell it for..My Dad always said " you can go down but you can never go higher" and I figure if ya leave alittle "dealing room" everyone feels better.
I am just not sure what to ask for it..thats my delemia. ???????
Would contacting a dealer who sells my particular brand have a better idea of what it is worth ??? Or maybe the manufacturer ??
