Am I the only person who owns a good BP(s)? Surely not. I dont understand all these complaints about BP's.  Sure if you need a 3H or need the GN space for storage (in which case Id buy the 3H anyway) the GN is the way to go. Seems like every time I click a thread someone is complaining about a BP or suggesting a GN because they are "handle, pull, back, turn, ride, or whatever so much better"......

Post up if youve got/had a good BP.

I absolutely loved my 1987 2H, Circle J with large DR.

But when my horse was apparently stung (found the wasp nest under the handle of the emergency door 2 weeks after the "incident") and leapt into the big steel manger - with large lip that kept him from extracating himself  - I knew I had to do something different.

I was very fortunate that I had friends nearby who came to help me get the horse out of the situation -and he loaded up again many times - but I was terriifed.

So - for the cost, convenience, space, yada yada - I moved up to a GN.

It's probably not a "good bumper pull", but it's paid for and there are many like it, but this one is mine!!

I got one of these old 6.5' wide, 7' tall, 14' long, Circle M Supreme stock trailers with a cut gate up front. Hauls 50 bales of hay, 44 bags of shavings, at times...Three horses, an Exmark mower, a 129 Cub Cadet, two rooms of furniture etc. Probably use it more than any of them. Just needs a set of "radial tires" on it. I'll never wear out the 8 ply, bias, regroovable, 700x15, Denmans (made in MEXICO) that came on it before they crumble and fall off..... And NO, It's not for sale!!

And I like pulling it..... frees up the bed of the truck!!

We have a nice size full LQ GN but kept the 2H BP for short trips...sister's house, local park, vet, farrier, if needed. I can hook up and go by myself, if necessary, with one or both horses. Haven't gotten that brave, nor have I had a reason, to take the LQ GN by myself. The "sting" issue is the exact reason the trailer I have was for sale. The previous owner's horse flipped out and put his hind legs through the side window. He was not seriously injured but wouldn't go near the trailer again. I am always sure to look for nests, etc. when we get out either trailer. Our BP pulls like a dream and it's not new by any means. Have to remind yourself it's back there.

Being as we have cattle, and use our horses and mules, there is a 20' GN stock trailer (used to haul saddled stock to the pens this am, and calves to auction this noon) that works well for many things.  Then there is the nice LQ 3H GN that does the hunting camping etc really well.  Then, WA LAH! there is the 2H BP that every horse and mule here will "send" into, and it is used for search and rescue (need a compact rig, you never know where you will be sent) and my many explorations in the wildlife management area here at my house (160,000 acres) cuz I can turn it around anywhere pretty much.  Love it, too!  It can be pulled by practically anyone we run with, it is very maneaverable, it is not heavy, it locks up the tack, I have used it to haul a lot of feed when it is raining, have hauled a 600 lb steer in it, the partition removes, the rear center post removes to load the 4wheeler, have taken it with the 4 wheeler behind the motorhome to deer camp, it is very useful in many ways.  Have used it to haul furniture too!  Our retirees are 22 (16H 1400 lbs) and 25 year old QH (14.2H 950 lb) show geldings, very very broke, and then there are 5 mules, all sane, sensible thinkers, and they all load and haul in it without hesitation.  Each trailer has it's uses, and you need to know what stock need what trailer, but the 2H BP is a useful and appreciated rig around this outfit.

I had the bee thing happen with my current gooseneck.  They built the nest between dividers when they were locked open and I didn't see it until AFTER I started to close the divider.  Now I check carefully before putting anything in the trailer.  Never know where those dumb bees will be!!!

I had a 1970 something WW for years.  I loved it, pulled great.  Then we had kids and had to get something bigger to accommodate all of us.  Couldn't afford to keep both trailers at the time but I sure wish I still had that thing.  It had built in hay racks over both fenders and a homemade swiveling arm to tie to.  Kind of what they make now, the hi tie I think they are called.  It made a convenient feeding/tying place on rides.  The only thing about this trailer was that it was black.  Not a good color for anything in S. TX.

I kept the 2nd BP I bought for 9 years - 2H BP DR slant w/ RT - it was an unusual trailer, but extremely well made.  It was made of Fiberglass composite (kevlar) very thick walls, cooler temperature wise, rumbar floors, ABS on the walls, drop down horse side windows, sliding on butt side, fans, ramp, lots of bridle hooks, blanket bars, etc in the DR, 7'9" high. Warmbloods and draft horses fit just fine.  The brand is Thee Kit and was manufactured by a former Sundowner designer who wanted to build a better, stronger trailer.  He built them for a few years, but the cost started out the same as aluminum but the materials went up so much they got too pricey.  They switched to boats and he's retired now, but his two sons are doing extremely well with luxury boats.

Anytime I took the trailer to them (I kept adding bridle hooks, other stuff) it was like going to visit the family.  They are wonderful people and I still stay in touch with them.

I pulled it with an F150 regular cab short bed and the truck really didn't have enough wheelbase.  I had the WDH hitch, but I hated installing the receiver and bars as they were so heavy.  Then I got a 2500 Dodge HD Diesel crew cab and I couldn't even feel the BP behind it.

I bought a 2H GN 5' weekend package as I camp about 15 times a season and wanted the luxuries a LQ can bring and since it's not that long of a trailer, I just couldn't see keeping two. But I wish my GN was as well built.

The people who bought the BP got it since the walls are so thick. They have an oxen "Bo" the grandaughter rides in parades and he kept putting his horns through the walls of their steel trailer.....  so far, he hasn't managed to put any holes in this trailer....

Well, that's all I started out with when I first started pulling a trailer again myself. An old 2H BP Champion. We've had something like 12 different trailers since then, but,we have ALWAYS had a BP around, and, always will have.We currently have a honey of an old 1995 all aluminum Sooner slant load that I wouldn't consider selling.I keep a BP around because that's about all I can manage to hook up and pull without spazzing out myself,in emergencies, ect.Which has happened.

I've had several BP trailers and put many miles on them. The last one was a three horse that we kept for almost 15 years. If they're designed right, they tow beautifully with no extra equipment needed. We only switched to a GN because of the truck camper hassles, and the lack of any facilities in the trailer.

BP trailers work very well, if they provide you with what you need.

I have two BPs... I bought a used 94 Trailet with a DR to see how I liked pulling a longer trailer, and then liked it enough that I bought a 2004 New Yorker. I kept the 94 New Yorker because it was paid for and I have horses in two places.

I have had a 70 King, 78 WW, then moved up to a Trailet Park Ave, then the 94 New Yorker. I would love a GN with DR, but now I camp at lodges where we have heat or A/C and the BPs work for me.

I recently got my "dream" trailer.  3H LQ mid tack........BUT I insisted on keeping my 2H straight load BP that has been a wonderful trailer for me for 15 plus years. even tho Hubby wants to know why I need 2 trailers. :)  I am really luck now to be able to have both,  but the BP is the best investment ever.

Have had our Bison 3H since 04(bought it new) when our only tow vehicle was a 3/4T Burbie. Have since picked up a 01 GMC dually. No major complaints, it pulls fine and gets the job done. One major thing I think opponents of BP's don't realize is if your truck breaks down, how you going to move the trailer. I think it's easier to find a rig to pull a bp than a gooseneck at any given time. In our situation, between the in-laws and us I could get 6 vehicles to pull it,but not one to pull a gooseneck. Just my 2 cents. Make sure you have an equalizing hitch on a 3h though--night and day difference.

I had the exact same trailer! And the same experience, except that the horse wasn't stung by a bee, she was just a herdsour idiot who tried to climb out the manger window! It was very scary!Anyway, I had BPs my whole life, and they worked just fine. Now that we have a GN I do like it MUCH better than any BP I had previously. But there's nothing wrong with BPs, especially the walk-thru ones without mangers. I think a lot of people just prefer GNs after they switch over :)

We bought a Shadow 2 horse straight load with a dressing room. It is their basic model but I love it. It is 7'6" tall so my big guy has no issues with it. We got tired of hauling the big one around all of the time. This one pulls great and it is quick to hook up. No climbing around. I use it at least once a week.

Yep if you're using a GM thing to haul with you need options. The horses like the stability of a gooseneck and ride more comfortably. I am not against the good old bumper pull as we have been on many a camping trip wirh a 2 horse WW and a slide in with the dependable F250 6.9

I have both and like both. The GNis a Hart LQ and the BP is a Hart 2H with about 4ft dressing room> I use the BP about 10 times as much and it is quicker to hitch up and pulls great great for day rides and running to the vet etc.

They told you that did they? Mine told me they didnt care, BP or GN.  They did say they were not going to ride in no damn straight load, those are for sissy Thoroughbreds.

i have a 2006 4 star 3 horse slant bumper pull and love it. i had a big gooseneck also, but i like the bumper for running around and quick trips. never had any problems with it and like the fact if there is an emergency and my truck won't start or something , i can call upon friends and use their vehicles.
