2007  Hawk

Description:  Traveled Lane Trailers, Inc.

This very clean one-owner 2007 Hawk just came in for us to display as a private sale. The owner's horse passed away, so the trailer is no longer needed.

As stated in the title line, this one is a 2H straight load with dressing room. By our tape, the horse area is 10 feet and the dressing room is 4 feet. Body width is 6 feet and height is a big-horse-friendly 7'6". This one's equipped with the desirable Rumber plank floor. With Rumber, no mats are required, so cleaning the floor after a trip is a breeze.

This Hawk features an aluminum skin over a corrosion-protected galvanneal steel frame. The steel is dipped in molten zinc, as with galvanized steel, but then the material is put in an annealing oven so the zinc bonds with iron atoms in the steel. That's a very simplified description, but that hits the highlights. The key point is that as a corrosion prevention measure, it seems to work very well. The frames on the Hawks we've shown over the years (including this one) have all been in excellent condition.

While we're talking construction details, there's a one-piece fiberglass roof. The walls are lined and the interior surfaces are smooth. Based on the solid sound as we thump the walls with a hand, the walls appear to be insulated, a nice touch for a quiet, comfortable ride. This one is equipped with smooth-riding torsion axles and according to the owner, the Load Range E radial tires were mounted about 2 to 2-1/2 years ago Load Range C or D are not uncommon on a trailer of this size, so the Load Range E tires should easily handle this assignment. .

With the talk of construction details out of the way, let's get to the functional aspects. As mentioned in the beginning, this one's a 2H straight load, sized to accommodate large horses comfortably. The ramp has a gentle incline and a grippy mat, thoughtful features for safe and convenient loading and unloading. The ramp assist is so effective that the writer of this listing, who is by no means a weight lifter, can raise the ramp using just one hand.

At the stalls, the walls are padded and the lower walls are matted. Stall divider, chest & butt bars are padded. There's great natural light and ventilation thanks to large windows at the stall sides, in the escape doors and in the rear curtain doors. Ventilation is further aided by a pair of fans and a pair of 2-way roof vents in the forward horse area. The head divider, stall divider and feeders are all easily removable. (We stored the feeders after taking the initial batch of photos, so they weren't in place for some of the photos, but the buyer still gets 'em!) And just a reminder, this one has the desirable Rumber plank floor. No mats to lift, so floor cleanup is a snap.

Dressing room equipment includes a pair of adjustable-height saddle racks on the far wall. The post can accommodate up to 4 saddle racks. There's a row of 6 bridle hooks high up on the carpeted back wall. There's a brush tray on the lockable door and a step for convenient entry and exit. Natural light and ventilation in the DR are provided by a large window on each side of the gooseneck. (If the sun is not out, not a problem. There's an interior double light just above the DR door. And lest we forget, there's a double light over the curb side escape door in the horse area.) Another thoughtful touch on this Hawk is the folding step to aid access to the upper gooseneck area.

Next to the spare tire under the gooseneck is a custom made aluminum water tank. Owner-added accessories include wheel chocks and a lug wrench.

We invite you to stop by and see this very clean, well-equipped, one-owner Hawk gooseneck. Demand for trailers, almost regardless of condition, has been strong since COVID became a major event. As nice as this trailer is, we don't expect it to stick around for long! Private on Display at Traveled Lane.
