2000  Featherlite

Description:  Traveled Lane Trailers, Inc.

This nicely-equipped 2000 Featherlite 8541 3H slant came in recently for us to show as a private sale. It is solidly built and clean. The owners are downsizing to a 2H bumper pull. This trailer is 7’ tall and 7’ wide and by our tape, floor length is an easy-to-manage 18 feet. In the dressing room, we measure 4 feet on the short wall and about 7.5 feet on the long wall. Regarding that solid construction, it has an aluminum frame and aluminum skin. The floor consists of longitudinal aluminum planks resting on robust I-Beam cross-members. It rides on torsion axles and generously-sized 16” radial tires. This trailer was based in Virginia, so it’s passed their annual inspections.

In the horse area, this Featherlite has drop feed windows in the head wall, sliding windows in the butt wall & rear doors and a 2-way vent over each stall, the combination offering good natural light and ventilation. The slam latches on the divider are smooth and quick & easy to operate and the latches seat into recessed pockets in the walls. It’s all well designed for ease of use and safety.

Walls in the horse area are aluminum lined, and based on the dull thuds we heard during our scientific “thump” test, the walls are insulated as well. This one should offer a quiet ride. There are rubber floor mats and the walls are rubber lined to about 4’ height. In addition to the standard interior lights, the owner has installed a couple of flexible-stem lights above the rear opening so you can direct light where you need it.

The spacious dressing room is well equipped. In the rear corner, there’s a removable tree that holds 3 adjustable-height saddle racks. The saddle rack tree may be relocated to the collapsible rear tack. Along the back wall, there’s a blanket bar, brush tray and a dozen bridle hooks.

Also along that DR back wall is where you’ll find the deep cycle battery and inverter to power small 110/120 volt AC items such as clippers or a fan. In the upper gooseneck area, there’s a clothing rod for added convenience. There’s a sliding window on each side of the gooseneck and another in the lockable door. It’s an inviting space. The DR floor, bulkhead and floor of the upper gooseneck are carpeted. There’s running board on each side of the trailer for easy access to windows and dressing room entrance.

The trailer’s in nice shape, but alert readers may have noticed a bit of a tweak at the front edge of the curb side fender. We’ve done a minor bit of recontouring on that since the pictures and if we get a chance, we’ll try to smooth it a bit more. Even if it goes out as is, the fender’s structurally intact.

We invite you to stop by and check out this nice Featherlite 3H GN. The weather’s starting to warm up and we expect it to find a new home soon. It’s a Private Sale on display at Traveled Lane.
