Subject: Franken-Trailer: temp recaulking on roof

Here are pictures of recaulking.  The previous owner had painted asphalt type roof coating on the roof seams. 

I used a scraper and knife to cut out old caulking,

then a wire brush to remove any loose stuff,

then an abrasive pad to remove small loose stuff,

then brushed it clean,

then rubbed clean with paint prep cleaner (to remove any grease residue),

then taped off seams,

then applied caulk,

then smoothed caulk,

then removed tape.

The badly rusted area on the roof is where the fire was (the metal is OK under the rust).  I am planning to treat the smaller rust areas with a rust converter and spray it with primer ASAP to temporarily seal it all up until it's repainted.

Comments, suggestions?  This is a learning process for me.  All of the temp work is just practice.  I am having fun.
