I am going to look a 2000 hawk horse trailer, straight load and gooseneck. From the photos it looks to be in good shape. Per the ad it states new brakes and very little surface rust under. Never used in the winter and covered during the winter. Trailer is in the northeast. I know hawk horse trailer have a good reputation but I am concerned about the surface rust underneath. What should I look for when checking out the rust to make sure it is just surface rust and not something more serious.

Hello should be little to no surface rust as the undercarriage is galvanized / should be nice if cared for and stored in off season - take a flat head screw driver to check the wood ramp decking.. look for date code on tires, replace if over 4 - 5 years - all lights working - have someone look underneath if you are not confident Risa HappyTrailsTrailers.com BalancedRideTrailers.com
