I only found super old threads so - Legend Trailers.
I know they are no longer in business. Would you consider a well kept Legend that met all your requirements? Why or Why not?
It appears to be aluminum over a steel frame.

New is not in my budget so as far as having access to the actual company, not sure that's a big deal on used?

Sure I would. It was a well built trailer, that if it is in good condition and meets your needs while being fairly priced may very well serve you for many more years. Frankly- even if they were still in business, many manufacturers don't have much data or support on trailers that are 20+ years old. So whether they are still around or not may make little difference.

I feel like steel is a 4 letter word when it comes to horse trailers! What can anyone tell me about aluminum skin on a steel frame?

Myself, family and friends have owned many steel frame/aluminum skin trailers over the years.  Properly done by the manufactuer and taken care of they hold up just fine, we are in Michigan.  The ones I have experience with are Hawks, Merhow and the older Trail-ets of which we had no problems with so the companies seemed to do it properly.  Sundowner did not do it properly and we had nothing but problems with it.  Good luck with your search.
