looking at trailers and found one we like but weighs too much.
unlaiden it's only 9,500# but of that 3450 is on the hitch (GM says my 08 chevy 2500 is rated to 3,000 pounds max on the gooseneck) so trailer weight is well below max trailer weight but sitting heavy on the goosneck.
for future trailers is there a calculation of 1,100 pound horse over axle will subtract XX from hitch weight, 300 pounds of water in the middle of LQ floor will add XX to hitch weight to get an idea of weight & balance so we can find a trailer to safely haul.
I don't mind going to the max or a tad over but when empty is 450 pounds over vehicle max I know adding a load is going to go too far

I've never seen a formula like that unfortunately. You are 36% tongue weight, which is pretty normal for an empty LQ. For what it is worth, a horse BEHIND the axles could lighten the tongue.
Also for what it is worth- that figure there is what commonly gets very close. And frankly, most 3/4 tons are probably run heavy. As long as you don't exceed the tire's weight ratings, I would think you'd be OK. If you've watched truck ratings for years, they often change from year to year with no actual change to the truck. Makes me put only so much faith in the ratings. Just my opinion.
