I'm looking for reviews of Kiefer built 2012 model trailer. One I'm looking at is called x7103. It seems great but I was curious if anyone has any experiences - good or bad. Thanks.

I don't have that particular model,  but my Kiefer Built hasn't had one negative issue in the years we've had it.  Our hauls are typically 2+ to 9 hours ten or twelve times a year.

I think that the quality of Kiefer Built will depend on what year of trailer that you purchase; as KB (like some other manufacturers) went through a change of ownership a number of years ago.

shags - What make, model and year of KB trailer do you have?

We had the exact opposite experience when we bought a new 2009 Kiefer Genesis 3H gooseneck with a 4.5 ft shortwall tack room ... with lots of problems. You can read more about our experiences in this link to a HTW posting: https://horsetrailerworld.com/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19144

For any trailer you purchase, you want to make sure you do your homework as you only want to do a major purchase like this only once.

The Search function at HTW only goes back one year ... but you can search further back by using a search engine like Google. You should be able to find a number of postings about KB trailers and you can form your own opinion based on more recent or more relevant knowledge than I can offer.

Search terms to include: "horse trailer world" "trailer talk" kiefer

The original owners of Kiefer made a very good trailer somewhere in Iowa.  The company was sold in 2000 or so and moved to TN. Some or their trailers were not made well.  3 or 4 years ago Kiefer was sold again to the Green Family that seems to have made some improvements.  In my opinion they are a mid range trailer - not top of the line but not a cheap trailer.

3CW,

Geeze, sorry you've had trouble with your trailer. Mine is a 09 or 10 also ( can't remember exactly)  a Genesis 3H slant BP.    It hasn't given me a minute's worry or trouble,  except now  the decal is curling off the nose.

We haul a fox trotter and a TWH, weigh 900-1000#  if it matters.  I try to take care of the trailer but we don't baby it. It lives outside.

I find my KB to be sort of midrange, not the best of the best but not low end either.
