I thinking about coating our tie blockers so that they don't leave marks on our trailer: would something like plasti dip work? Any other suggestions?

Get a plastic lid from a coffee can … make a cut in the middle with holes at the ends of the cut. It'll look like this >> o--o push the lid over the tie loop. the plastic will keep the paint from getting scratched. Leave it on or take it off.

You might consider this plastic film. The automotive industry uses it for chip protection. Clear film that will stick to the trailer instead of coating your tie-blockers.  I know it works on painted but not sure how it would look or work if you have aluminum. There are several sizes on Amazon and it's probably found in your local auto parts store as well.
