 Hi,
I have a Silverlite 3H GN trailer that has some damge. The bottom part of the wall has been bowed out (from horse kicking/stomping) and not it's rubbing the tire (and has actually cause one to fail).

Do you think it will be structurally sound to have the section flattned again? or replace the section (i guess by cutting it an rewelding it..it's aluminum)

Also, has a short term solution (in order to move the trailer with horses in it since they are now "stranded" at my inlaws 150 miles away) could we use a wheel spacer to move the wheel(s) out? i would go 45-50mph tops

I would pound it back and mount some plywood on inside to keep it from reoccurring, then monitor .

I agree with Beeoerdog …

Is the dent in a single thickness of metal ? It would help if you got someone to hold a heavy weight *, inside, against the area you're pounding on. It will act like an anvil moving the metal with each hammer blow.

* A sandbag or big chunk of wood supported by a rope, someone holding it against the wall, while you beat the wall with a large rubber dead blow hammer from the outside. Using a metal hammer will thin and stretch the metal.

Nix the thought of a wheel spacer.
