I have searched the forum but I cannot seem to find a direct review or opinion of the Charter TR SE Bumper Pull. I currently have a 2 horse 4 star slant runabout. It's a great pulling trailer but I feel like I almost have to bend my horse in half to get him in. I want to go to straight load WB style.
I know the Sundowners had some issues before are they still present in the new ones?

Well, I've waited days for someone to drop in. Disclaimer- I am a dealer, for many brands, including Sundowner. And this is just my opinion.

With that- yes, for many years, Sundowner built trailers that were considered all-aluminum, as well as those that had a steel frame structure.
And in reality, the steel framed units sold many more so that is what you frequently see. We've seen some of those that were in great shape, we've done major repairs to some, and we've scarapped some out. If you are shopping used, inspect it carefully as it may be a fine trailer, or maybe not so much.

As I recall, the steel models were last produced in '09 or so. Not long after that, the Charter TR SE came out (steel only where needed on the tongue/axle area) with a set of standard specs that fit the needs of many typical users and it carries a fairly traditional aluminum construction of mainframe, I-beam cross members, and aluminum plank flooring. We have sold many, and have a lot of very satisfied customers. I don't necessarily consider it a commercial grade of trailer, but its construction quality and engineering are solid, and I have seen it deliver positive results in steady use. It seems to do a great job with the price:value equation, which makes it suitable for many folks to consider for their purchase. And yes- with its dimensions it is a great trailer for larger and/or longer bodied horses.
