Do any of you know where I can go to get estimates on the salvage value of my lq horse trailer? It has a dent on the side and due to large repair costs the insurance company has decided to total it. I need to know what it's worth now so I can make an informed decision.

Thank you all,

Lonna

This site offers a horse trailer blue book you can use to find the value.  The other option is to provide comps based on this site and others.  Most dealers will also offer an appraisal service.  Thad

Yes they do for it's current value, I'm specifically looking for the salvage value of the trailer. I'm sure the insurance company will get a high quote for the salvage value and I'd like some facts to dispute their estimate.

Salvage value is what somebody will pay for it, as it sits, where it sits. In my experience the insurance companies have a list of folks that they get bids from, and go from there. Sometimes, they will run it through an auction. I'm sure they'd accept a bid from you on it.

Yes they will give me what they think it's worth as salvage, just wanting to try to get some estimates on my own. Paperwork is in the mail so I should know in a few days.

Hi Paul,

The damage isn't major, just a thick scrape on the side. The problem is replacing it. Cimarron doesn't make that aluminum pattern any more, plus in order to remove the damaged panel, they would have to remove the living quarters on that side which is the entire kitchen etc. The trailer is still fully functional, I'll just have to see what insurance says.
