Starting to looking for a new (to me) bumper pull trailer. 2 horse, straight load with dressing room. I currently have an older Kingston with DR, but it's only 7' tall. I'd like to get a 7'6" to better fit my 16.3h gelding. First of all, the used BP market is crazy - definitely as sellers market. But as I start my search, opinions on an insulated trailer? I plan on hauling my gelding to shows that are between 3-6 hours away a handful of times a year. Insulated trailers are more expensive than more basic models. Is it worth the increase in price for the reduction in noise & keeping it a moderate temperature? Most of the info I find on the subject is coming from manufacturer websites - not sure if I can trust their info, or if they are trying to upsell me.

Thanks!

If you can find a used Hawk or Trail-et, they are (were, in the case of the Trail-et) insulated floor to roof, including the dressing room, and have a fiberglass roof that does not conduct heat. Many of the higher end aluminum trailers are also insulated floor to ceiling in the horse area, but usually not in the dressing room. If you find a used Hawk and don't want it, let me know as I have a waiting list for used two horse Hawk straight loads.

Thanks! Hawk is on my short list of preferred manufacturers, but I agree, used ones are hard to find! I'm in NC and have been in contact with a Hawk dealer in SC, but rather save some $$ and buy used. A few weeks ago, I looked at a 1998 EquiSpirit, which I'm certain was made by Hawk. 1998, for....$9500! I just couldn't stomach that much for a 20 year old trailer, even though it was in great shape. There is a TrailEt nearby, but it's only 7'4" tall...I rather hold out for a 7'6".

Good Morning!

To cover 'full disclosure', I want to tell you upfront that I am a horse trailer dealer, and have spec'd trailers from many different companies. If my comments should not be here, I apologize.

The trailer you are describing you would like to purchase as used is one of my most popular that I sell new. I represent the Homesteader Stallion line of horse trailers, and I represent them because they are what I consider to be the best value in the market. Super strong, nice looking trailer. And insulation is a very inexpensive option.

The 2 horse straight load, with dressing room, 2 escape doors, 7'6" tall, 7' wide, 14' long (not including the v-nose), fully lined, padded, and insulated walls, fully lined and insulated ceiling, rumber floor, rear ramp door, and spare tire can be purchased new for $10,890. I think that is a very attractive price, considering the price of used trailers I see on the market.

I will be glad to get more info if you would like.

Thanks, and Happy Riding !!!!
