so been casually looking at upgrading to an LQ trailer

one thing i've been seeing on occasion is a wall between the bunk & everything else.   how the heck do you get the old mattress out and a new mattress in?  or are you stuck with the matress from factory?

-Like was said you should be able to fold in half or kind of roll up the old one. If it is not good with a little imagination you can remove the old one. Our trailer is like you described with a sliding door closing off the bedroom area and we replaced ours with one like this--

Easiest way is to take two pieces of rope with a loop thru the end.  One person at each end (head/foot), put the rope under the mattress and feed the end of the rope thru the loop.  Now roll the mattress like a burrito and tighten the rope as you go.  When you have it rolled as tight as you can tie off the rope.  Use the rope as a handle and use it to "walk" it out of the trailer.

If you buy a mattress for a trailer, they typically are shrink wrapped into a burrito shape.  Put in place, cut the shrink wrap and stand back.

thank you all for your thoughts:

i was thinking typical mattress with the coil springs, for some reason wasn't thinking of the foam ones, or hunting down a trailer specific one

If you replace a LQ mattress, be aware that a lot of LQ noises are very low clearance, and the factory mattress is a "low profile". IMO that is why most of them suck-as they are thin for more clearance. But when you put a "normal" mattress in a LQ, expect to lose 2-6" of head clearance.
