I need to wash and wax my trailer. Now, if I touch the paint, it will come off like chalk residue. Can I just wash and wax or does there need to be a sealant placed on it first?
Trailer is stored in a shed.
Thanks

The paint is damaged from UV rays. The chalking is the damaged paint product. There are many automotive / marine  products that will remove the damaged paint by washing. Marine boat waxes often have UV inhibitors that will help prevent paint damages. Continued damage will result in the paint erroding to show the finish underneath the over lying paint.
