I have heard to horror stories about flat/blown out trailer tires. Has anyone tried any these after market tire pressure monitors that I see on Amazon and the internet? I'm wondering if they are a hassle and if they work?

I used the one Mr Trailer recommends (Pressure Pro) on a previous rig. It was a great piece of mind running across TX in 106 temps! It has 10 sensors so you can have them on the truck AND the trailer. My new truck has a built in system and my new LQ is running nitrogen filled tires which run 30% cooler. So, I no longer really need it. I guess I should sell it on Ebay or Amazon......

Not according to Tire Rack.  "Myth: Pure nitrogen-filled tires will run cooler.

This is another myth that is tied to the assumption that consumers will not check their air pressures often enough. Simply having a different type of gas in your tires will not make them run cooler." http://blog.tirerack.com/blog/make-driving-fun/pure-nitrogen-in-tires-facts-and-myths-v1
