I am trading in a 2007 Chev Dually that has a 68 gal auxiliary fuel tank (which I LOVE) for a 2017 Chev. Dually. I need to add the gooseneck hitch, auxiliary gas tank, and a step so I can climb in the bed to hook up. My current truck is perfect, except it's ten years old. I bought the 2007 used, and it came with the (atta)tank, step, hitch.
The hitch is no problem to have installed, and I think I can find a step that will work - but I don't know how to search for an auxiliary fuel tank. Are some brands better than others? The 68 gallon tank was awesome - it did take up some space (like a full size tool box) in the bed, but I liked knowing I wouldn't have to refuel on most trips. I pull an Exiss 8312, so not the biggest trailer, but 28' on the deck, and not easy to maneuver thru most gas stations.
Any tips, recommendations, cautions, etc, are welcome!
I use the 37 Gallon Roll-Top Fuel Tank because my pickups, that are not flatbeds, have Pace-Edwards bedcovers... This 37 gallon in-bed fuel tank fits short and long bed pickups. It's designed to fit under Pace-Edwards and Truck Covers USA retractable bed covers. The tank is available in 14 gauge aluminized steel with black powder coat finish.

I just got a RDS 60 gal wedge tank last month from Camper World. Came with no instructions or mounting hardware what so ever. Had shipping stickers all over it that where very difficult to remove. Had to order the sending unit/float/gauge seperate along with the gravity feed system. Still working on getting the float to work. Sending unit/gauge works great out side the tank, but once the float put in tank, it will not register more than 1/4 full. Called RDS Tanks and got the owner who was no help and sure needed training in customer service.
I got it installed on my CM ER Flat bed using Google and You tube. Still don't understand how the vent works. What instructions I could find on google, said that the gravity feed works on some pickups and not on others. With no indication which ones. I have ran 100 gal thru this one, and i did leave the manual valve on that drains the fuel into the factory tank, to see if it would over fill the factory tank. After 24 hours, it did leak a cupful of diesel on the ground. Could not find from where but suspect the factory tank vent line.
I would spend the extra money and get one of those automatic tanks if I where to do it again. The RDS is fine, but if they could come up with an owners manual, installation kit including gauge, sending unit and float along with better service, I might be a fan.

Do you want gasoline or Diesel?
Diesel tanks can be found at TSC and farm stores. Those of us with gas tow pigs......I stop a lot, I cannot find an aux tank for less than $1500. I am thinking about removing my spare tire and replacing it with a tank, my truck is only 17 years old, don't want to rush into anything.

Thank you all for your input. I like the ATTA tank, but can't seem to find a local dealer that will return a phone call. Transfer flow is available, so will probably go with that.
