My brand new Dixie Star/ Harmar trailer (aluminum with steel frame) is only 3 months old and the only use it has seen was being towed to the West Coast for delivery. Luckily, a local service technician looked underneath it and the entire frame is not lightly but heavily rusted. One of the bolts to the fold-down stairs snapped the first time someone stepped on it. The manufacturer is claiming that this is normal and not covered under the warrantee. I am now finding shops to inspect the trailer, sandblast the underside, repaint it (there is hardly any paint left on this brand new frame), and then apply an additional sealant. I know any steel can rust, but between the shocking degree of rust I am dealing with and the manufacturers response, I would never personally buy or recommend this brand of trailers.
I had Featherlite trailers for many years, and can whole-heartedly recommend anything they produce.
