Need advice on wormers! I have always tried to switch brands so would cover all parasites. My question is since there is such a difference in price. In your experience have you found that the more expensive brands work best? We live in a wet wormy area.

I do the same but I also give each animal a pack of chewing tobacco about once every 4-6 weeks, Several "old timers" in this area tell me that years ago there were no wormers and they would give tobacco leaves as a wormer. I have several friends that use only tobacco and have nice large animals

interesting, I've heard this all my life, but it was for cattle. It would be nice to know if it works for horses also.

Its not a matter of changing brands, But of changing the Active compounds.Ivermectin/Moxidectin vs Pyrantel Promoate vs BenzimidazoleBeyond the active compound the difference between brands is more the applicator, any flavoring, and in the PLUS brands the addition of a Tape Worm control.

Painted horse is right. Just compare labels and you will find that the active ingredients are the same across brands. Alternate active ingredients and you are on your way. Tobacco does kill worms in horses. Does the same for humans, but I'm not sure I would recomend the practice given the other effects tobacco has on people.
