Having said all that about the roads in the Buffalo National River area, most people outside of the state have no idea of what a powerful struggle went on between the people who were the beginnings of Arkansas' environmental movement, and the political "powers that be" to keep this river and territory as is.The Army Corp of Engineers in that day pretty much got what they asked for,and it took a hard fight to prevent 2 dams from being built on the Buffalo and forever obliterating this scenic, pristine and natural region of our state.Thank God that did not happen!

The falling waters there may be more innovative km ride, but we really enjoyed the two places. We go to the Huckleberry April every year, mule riders together and have a blast.

Huckleberry Stables is a nice, small, family run campground.  Has a few elec/water hookups and several small cabins and pens or stalls for your mules.

Arigatu, sorry if I misspell your handle.  I see your location as New York, yet you mentioned going to Huckleberry in April for a mule gathering.  I've been going the last 3 or so years and I, sadly, didn't get the opportunity to meet you???  This year Rick's might be full, but the mule gathering I'm talking about, this year, will be 4/18 to ......

Cajunmuleman, I think you would really like Huckleberry Stables, Rick & his wife Mary.  Nice, friendly mule people and a blast to be around.

Flying H,

Ya'll gonna be there this year at Huckleberry?    Sorry, off topic some since this is supposed to be for Arkansas riding, but, hey, this place is very, very close to Arkansas!
