Hello,

I have a 5 year old Icelandic Horse gelding currently for sale or may
consider a trade for a trail ready gaited horse. Riddari is located in
Roberts, Wisconsin and he is listed for $4,500.00, but I am willing to
negotiate on his price in order for him to go to an experience horse
owner or trainer.

Here's a link to one of his ads and shows one photo

http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-465701

Can you please share this info, with anyone who may be interested?

Thank you,

I have seen your info on other forums and since you seem like you need to sell I am going to give you my thoughts. When I saw a close up photo of an unkept hairy horse head it did not make me think "Stunning"

Better photo's and confo shots and shots doing something might generate more interest

Dear Laurie...thanks for your feedback.

Just a note to let you know that the way Riddari looks...hairy, fuzzy, wild crazy mane is a the way ICELANDIC HORSES look.

I also included in the ad, that more info, photos and videos were available when folks contacted me.

I understand that non-Icelandic Horse owners, such as yourself...are put off by our breed's fuzzy appearances. We happen to take pride in their long beards, fuzzy coats, and natural forelock and manes. But, we are rather proud of our fuzzy ponies. Who...by the way, so shed out completely, by June and start growing their new winter coats ...in August.

Thank you very much.

Raven

Hi,

Below please find some link to my fuzzy, hairy Icelandic Horse gelding.

BTW....Ice Horses are fuzzy & hairy due to the fact that they are from Iceland where's being fuzzy & hairy with long wild manes is a great thing in the winter. And in the summer...the average temp is 60.

Oh...on some of these links you'll also see my other Icelandic Horse, Huginn. Who is even fuzzier and hairier that Riddari. (giggles...love them fuzzy wuzzy ponies!)

Here is a link to Riddari's YouTube videos.

I really had no idea that they are fuzzier than any other horse. I am taking it they do not clip them and trim them up? I have seen them at demo's but really neveer noticed but the demo's were early spring. So do they get overheated easily because of the extra hair? Or should you body clip them in warmer climates?

Hey Laura...you make me giggle. HA! Yes, they are very ...very fuzzy. In the winter, I bet Huginn's coat is 4" long.

The show Ice Horses are body clipped and many pleasure/trail horse owners, will do a trace clip. They can and do overheat when not clipped on those warmer spring days or fall days...when the temps get high.

But...manes, forelocks, feathers, tails, ears, noses, etc...are NOT touched. NEVER! EVER! NEVER! They are the pride of our Ice Horses.

If you go to my blog, you can see Huginn totally shed out.
