She has a fracture/subluxation of the Patella. There are no doubt soft tissue/ligament injuries as well. We need to take her to a veterinary hospital for further evaluation and possibly surgery. We are keeping her contained in her stall with good bedding and a portable electric fence perimeter to keep our other horses distanced....
If the FX is not too bad...you should be able to have a pasture pal after surgery...

The Orthopedic Surgeon has hopes to return her to athletic soundness/riding... Our local vet would just put her down since she would be out of service so long... but, if she ends up being a pasture pal, we'll deal with that too...

I know it babe...Bob... We went thru it with my (own son of Easy Jet) barrel horse's arthrodesis years ago. We have a collection of opinions from all over the country. They include Professors of Equine surgery, and pros who have done several such surgerys. We are in serious negotiation here at home... Thank you sharing your experiences.
