I was wondering what the best thing to use as a stopper in a bathtub (to use as a water trough) is ? I had one years and years ago, removable so it could be drained and cleaned but can't remember for the life of me what it was.

we use a tub the same way and I used a chunk of round wood dowel I found in a friends woodshop.sanded it down a little to fit better and leave enough sticking up to make it easier to remove for draining.

I have two western saddles, one I bought used at a tack and horse sale and the other I bought new in "85"....Is there any way to tell if they are semi or full quarter horse bar saddles??? The one I bought new, I never paid attention to what it was (was young college kid and didn't know any better) and now I wish I would have paid closer attention to what it is....The used one is a Circle Y and has a serial number on it....Is there a way to look up the number to see what it is??? The other one I had repair work done on it about 5 years ago and the repair man said that the shop where I bought it from usually had Circle Y make saddles for them and then they would have their stamp put on it instead of the Circle Y stamp...

Best final fix would be a rubbermaid tank. I too went through similar with the ol' porcelain tub. And ya know what? For 70 bucks? No more worrying about if they had water or not? That rubbermaid tank was SO worth it.That said...some things that worked for me: Big corks for big decorative bottles. You can find them at craft stores.Big rubber stoppers for great big beakers. You can find them online.If you're not opposed to manually dumping the thing to clean? You could consider using the non toxic expandable foam stuff that seals.

Had a horse nearly cut his leg off with the sharp lip around the old metal tub...NEVER AGAIN. Rubermaid tubs from now on, I'd rather not spend that kind of money and time with the vet knowing I could have just done it right the first time. He healed fine before the World show and we placed very well.
