I have a 2002 Exiss 406xt.  I want to install A/C to this unit.  It does not have the braces already installed, but I know I have seen several Exiss trailers that are similiar with A/C.  I have a friend who an electrician.  So my question is if I buy one off the internet how hard would it be to have him install it?   and #2 about how much would it cost from a dealer to do the whole thing so I can compare if its worth trying to have done myself?   I got a bid from a RV/Camper dealer and he told me $2400.  I about fell out of my chair.  You can get a small unit on ebay for $550 including shipping.

Just looking to see some numbers and thoughts from others who might have done this.

Thanks,  24/7

These folks sell a nice Carrier low profile RV unit....

I had a Coleman Mach II installed several years ago, that was the AC unit w/heat strips, wiring, breaker panel and labor.... It ran about $900.00. My guess was $450.00 for the unit and related parts and $450.00 labor.

You will have to have braces installed in the roof bows of the trailer to hold the a/c unit (14x14 opening), but a qualified repair shop should be able to do that for you. The a/c & install should cost no more than $1,100 to $1,500 including wiring and breaker box with plug in to outside of trailer plus whatever the cost of adding the roof braces.

I added an ac to my trailer a few years ago and it was $1200.  That included the ac and the bracing.

RV places are always very expensive.

If the trailer is alum, that can add to the cost. If the ceiling is insulated and finished, that's another aspect of adding the bracing.
