I am trying to figure out a problem with my slide out on my 1998 sundowner trailer. My slide out is stuck and won’t open or close. Manually or automatically. Sundowner has not been any help. I need to figure out how to access the drive mechanism. Help any help please.

If memory serves, isn't it accessed from underneath the trailer? The trailer will have a double floor system, and the slide motor and drive is in between the two floors. The limit switch and such is in the nose cabinet by the converter.

This may or may not apply to your trailer. Some trailers have a motor and gear drive that moves the slide-out. I noticed on a trailer in for an inoperable slide-out, the drive motor is on one side of the slide-out with a shaft across to the opposite side. The gear nearest to the motor had stripped while the far gear was fine. This lead me to surmise the cross shaft did not transmit torque equally. If this is the case, make sure the far side gear/rack is tight on the shaft, otherwise the nearside gear is doing all the work. And will fail again.
