I bought a 2017 EXISS stock combo with a 10 ft. living quarters and the Furnace will not warm the trailer up when it down below 50. We tool a trip this spring hit some cold wheather down in the 40 and furnace quit running about 2 in the morning.had a hard timing to get running this happen twies on this trip. talk to Siera about this since we no longer have a dealer close by. took to RV. dealer they told me the battery was dead. You do not want to know what I had to say. told me the Furnace was fixed. took a nother 6 week trip hit cold wheather on way home same thing happen. We got home sent a E Mail to tom Blessing at Siera did not hear any thing . Sent 3 more did not hear any thing . Caller EXISS got a hold of Dinnes Eagel told him my problem with Siera. By that after noon Tom Blessing called me I ask him if he got my e mail got all 4 e mails. He told me that I have an alumbion Trailer it takes a lot heat them.

Does any one else out there have this problen.

Thank You
Jerry

Does the furnace keep running and putting out heat? Propane does not evaporate very well when it is cold. Make sure the tank is full and maybe wrap a blanket around the tank.

Did it warm up in the beginning of the trip?  Do you have one battery or two batteries?  Were they fully charged?  Did your other propane fueled devices work (fridge, hot water heater, stove)?  The stove doesn't need 110v or 12v to run.  Depending on which fridge or hot water heater you may need voltage for them to run.  If stove worked fine, then probably not a propane issue (regulator, air in the lines, tank turned off)

Try the heat with the trailer plugged into 110v.  Does it heat the trailer?  Doing this test would eliminate any battery issues (provided your converter is working properly and charging the battery(s).

My guess is that the battery(s) drained and there wasn't enough voltage to open up the thermocoupler to release gas to ignite.  If you only have one battery and getting thru a day or two would be tough if you are using a lot of lights and it is very cold the voltage would drop below the threshold to open up the thermocoupler.

I'm new on the forum, and appreciate your expertise.
But I will share my experience installing a portable heater of this type https://www.newtanklesswaterheaters.com/ in the trailer. Our unit is used for a parked trailer and shares a 7 gallon propane tank with the furnace and stove. Since I'm not the one living in the trailer I don't have any real sense of how often the tank is filled, how much of the use is the furnace vs. the water heater, etc. I do know that I was worried that it would use the propane a lot faster than the 6 gallon water heater that came with the trailer, but it doesn't seem to.

Seems like maybe we need to identify the real problem here first. Is the furnace working? Does it come on, blow hot air, and cut off when temp is reached (if temp is reached)? I'm trying to figure out from your story, if it will not function, or if it functions but the trailer just will not get warm.

If it won't blow warm air, get to an RV shop and it is under the furnace maker's warranty. If it is working, but isn't warm then Sierra needs to help. But- a strong wind on a 40 degree day can cool a trailer a lot. LQs aren't underpinned of course, and windy weather makes a huge difference in how well heat is retained.

Clarification to my post above (would not let me edit). I used too many pronouns to be clear. Sorry.

If the furnace is working, but the trailer is not warm, then get with Sierra.

could be something simple like a defective high limit switch. should be easy for a tech to diagnose.

One way to see what is happening is to measure the temperature rise thru the furnace ( what is return air temperature versus the supply air temperature). Also does the burner cycle on and off on a cycle? This will tell you if it is cutting off on a limit.

Hello
On 11 22 17 I took my trailer to a RV Dealer to have the Furnace look at. Left trailer there it was 56 out that morning,. Got a call from the service tech. He look at it, started it up ,it was 55 inside trailer took 2 hours to get up to 70 , He called me told me the Furnace was working right but it would never shut down and burn a lot of propane because the furnace is to small for that size of cabin it is 8' wide 10' long 7.5 tall pluse the over head it would never heat it up in cold wheathr . He is going to call Siera to see what they want to do with it.I will call them to. Just wait and see.

Thank you

Hope it goes well. But, just FYI the amount of heat is directly related to the amount of propane burned. As in a 10,000 BTU furnace burns half as much propane as a 20,000 BTU unit, but puts out half as much heat. So don't be concerned about it running a lot. But if it can't cool the coach, then yes you have a problem. There are 91,000 BTUs in a gallon of propane. So a 20,000 BTU furnace will burn a gallon about every 4.5 hours, give or take for efficiency.

I don't know how yours is made, but I have a friend who had a similar size LQ that had a furnace that direct discharged in the main LQ with 1 duct to the bathroom. He loved the heat. He traded for a brand that brags on how they duct the furnace all around the LQ- he froze. Same basic size LQ, same furnace, but the loss of air through the ducting was killing him. He eventually had the RV shop put a register straight out from the furnace and was much happier.

Also- in a LQ if it is windy outside, makes a ton of difference. Since they aren't underpinned, air going all around them can sap a lot of heat from the trailer.

Hello.
I stopped by the RV shop yesterday after noon to see if he had heard any thing from them he maid 4 phone call on monday and has heard nothing so he sent them an E Mail and as of this after noon no reply back. I will call Him tomarrow to see if he has heard any thing. I do not have much hope on this.

The idea venting stright out in to LG. sounds better than going through the duck work it only has two peaces of duck work one to the bath room and the other into the living area.

I want to thank every one that has responded.

Well finally after turning SIERRA over to B.B.B. I got an E Mail from EXISS that I had some problems with my trailer. But this IS the first I have heard any thing from EXISS. He gave me a phone number for Mike Green of I do not know if he is with SIERRA or how ever bought them out.italk with Mike about the FURNACE problem that is where He told Me that these TRAILERS are not built for CAMPING He also told me that all the E Mails got lost in the move. He would see what He could do.

Then I sent a EMAIL to EXISS after I had an E Mail address. will wait and see what comes of that E Mail I sent just another waiting game.

Thank You.
