Any opinions about having a gooseneck hitch installed?  The do's and don't, & the best one to have installed?

Thank you

Amy

I would highly recommend a PullRite Super Glide Hitch.  There are many benifits, but I don't know what your hot buttons are.  I like it because all of the hardware is under the truck bed.  When you take the hitch out, there is nothing left in the bed.  Check them out at http://www.pullrite.com/ You will need to find a dealer who does hitch work on a regular basis.  I would recommend one of the large RV dealers in your area.  You can also check on PullRites site for their nearest dealer.

I like the B & W. Expensive but completely flat when you take out the fifth wheel or ball.

Are you talking about a fifth wheel hitch or a gooseneck hitch? Sometimes people get these mixed up. Will you be pulling a horse trailer or camper ?

Just don't let "U Haul" install anything for you, they do not have a great reputation.

Yes I meant a gooeneck hitch.  Was not even thinking about huge RV market out there Duh.  And when people were mentioning take out I know there are balls that drop down in the bed.

Please comment on Gooseneck hitches -Thanks

Best of the simple and durable = B+W turn over ball.

There are hitches that operate a retracting mechanism but the more moving parts, the more chances for malfunction.

I chose between the una-goose and B+W hitches.   My B+W has served well since 2001.

B & W for sure.  I take the ball out when not in use and keep it in a oily rag in the garage. The bed is completly flat, & as was already mentioned, there are no moving parts to wear out or fail.

B&W

I keep the ball in a one-gallon zip-lock bag behind the  seat when it's not in the bed.

We have a couple of our own on trucks and we also installed many others. They work awesome (keep them greased) and bolt to the sides of the frame, so they don't weaken and crack. They also sell an adapter that can be put on a 5th wheel type
It's expensive but worth it, I use this very often https://bestoutdooritems.com/best-5th-wheel-hitch/

B&W is an excellent product...

But my installer installed an UNDER-BED Draw-Tite on one of my 3500s and have had zero problems with it... http://www.draw-tite.com/products/gooseneck-hitches/cy!CG58dM6TdDiQ1Q5PYTLBv!%7ClpwXCU
