Anyone have suggestions on mounting the light weight green horse panels on the outside of an aluminum trailer? We are taking a trip out west and the only way to carry them is in the first stall and we would like to use that to haul gear. Thanks!

I travel with six to ten round pen panels. I mount them on top of my trailer. I did have a trailer in the past where I mounted several on the wheel well of the trailer. I think four would sit on top of the wheel well. These are the 12' panels. Fairly heavy. My present trailer doesn't have a hayrack so I lay down sheets of syrofoam to raise the panels above the airsccops. Forgot what they are called. Good luck

I mounted steel brackets to the side of my steel trailer,  I would be hesitant to hang full size panels off the side of an aluminum frame and skinned trailer.

Where are you going "out west"?  Many places "out west" have pens and most places the pens are to keep the animals away from your horses - not to keep your horses in.  If the case, you need more panel than you are taking - just saying.

These may be more than you're looking for but they do show the brackets.  As said above, be careful with mounting for heavy panels but I have seen some pretty hefty ones bracketed to the side.  Maybe making use of the fender to take some of the load off. As for pens being available 'out west' , I wouldn't want to be fully dependent on that being the case. Never know when your plans are gonna change and you end up in the middle of nowhere and need a corral.

We like to put our horses in pens when we travel but don't carry panels with us.  We use https://www.trailmeister.com/ to help plan our trips.  You can find horse camps in any state and then read about the camp itself, if it has pens or highlines, how many camp sites there are, how long trails are and the type of terrain, reservation information and more.  You can see maps of the area, both road and satellite.  Also, the pens in areas where there might be grizzlys or buffalo are built very solid, not so much to keep your horses in, but to keep the other animals out as has been mentioned by others.  No portable panels will keep a grizzly out or even a hungry buffalo intent on your horse's hay.

On a trip earlier this month I hauled panels to make 3 pens for our mules because the place we would be camping didn't have a place to put up a picket line. We were at the Chuck wagon races. Attached is a pic of how I did it
