Location: Central Arkansas | We rode last year at a place in Meridian, MS called Bonita Lakes. It was a super nice equestrain center with great trails that wrapped around the lake. It was hilly and very pretty with lots of different loop choices. There is an overlook that is high above.......the shopping mall. That is how close you are to shopping, movies, restaraunts, & hotels. They have a large covered arena, an outdoor arena, RV hookups, bathrooms with showers and stalls available. We also rode on the Natchez Trace. But I don't remember the name of the camp. It was about 20 miles SE of Vicksburg. You rode out, then turned around and rode back. It was fun but I much prefer loop trails. The camp was clean had an older outdoor pen, a few stalls, RV hookups, horse pens and picket lines. There was a bath house but I never went in it since I have a LQ trailer. |

Stinkin Jims is a great place. Houston MS. Great food & dance on Sat nite, and cowboy church on Sundays. Nice folks. |

Location: Gulfport, MS | There is also the Big Foot Horse Trail located in the De Soto National Forest...This trail head consists of four trails...ranging anywhere from 2 hour loops, to all day loops. This is a beautiful place to ride, specifically, the Blue Loop. These are easy, but pretty trails that anyone can ride. Definitely worth a drive over if you are from South Eastern Louisiana. You go up Hwy 67 to the four way stop. Continue North and once you cross into Stone County, you will see the sign on the right hand side of the road...It's approximately 4-5 miles from the four way stop sign. Several of my friends have ridden Bonita Lakes and say that they have some of the best trails in Mississippi. Located in Meridian. I have also ridden the trails in Laurel, MS...These are also part of the De Soto Nat'l Forest. Worth the drive and the trails are great. We camped over night in the primitive campground at the trail head. I would highly recommend these trails to. Very good footing, as with Big Foot, and a great place to "move out" for those who like to go at a faster pace. Hope this helps... |
