Location: La Crosse, WI - God's Country | That's one way to solve that problem. If I'm turned (truck relative angle to the trailer), I get the same thing - not a big deal, I usually just back a little, open the tailgate (or have a trusty helper do it - it has to be lowered either at the start of the detach or mid-way), and proceed. For unloading/loading, I just make sure I'm aligned. That said, I've seen a number of folks with the extenders. The ones I've spoken with are happy with them. LAXPatrick |

| I saw a very interesting extender yesterday.
It consists of two lengths of I-beam (maybe 4 inch) and some cross members that have been welded up as an A-frame to go under the existing gooseneck frame and put the coupler so far out in front of the trailer that they have room to put a full size cross body truck tool box on it, in front of the trailer nose, the coupler is actually a few inches in front of that. This is a 3 horse slant F'lite - in Massachusetts - at the Dover Saddlery event - at Norfolk Hunt - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE (-:
If it had been just standing there without the truck it would have been odd/weird looking. The truck it was hooked to is a 4wd 4 door crew cab Chev/GM 4500 (or 5500) with a stake body, with the front half's full height sides in use. This is a TALL truck. I'd guess it to be about a 16ft bed. I did get a picture, on a film camera so it might be a while before I can get a digital image to post.
No surprises I guess, many problems/limitations can be overcome with a bright blue wrench (-:

Location: Denver Colorado | PopUp now has a 4" ball extender similar to B&W as well as the 9" gooseneck extender. I'll get some pictures up on my website soon. |
