  REF MY POST #25120 MAY 14   AFTER CHECKING VIN WITH LOCAL SHERRIFS DEPT,NO RECORD OF BEING STOLEN, WE COMPLETED THE DEAL  BUT WHEN WE WENT TO GET A TAG, WHOOPS, STOLEN!! AT LEAST THE OWNER GOT HIS TRAILER BACK, AND THIS OLD GAL DONE LEARNED HERSELF A VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON  AT 70, ONE I DIDNT NEED!!  THANKS FOR THE GOOD AVICE THO.

I wonder, now if we should go to the division of motor vehicles before we buy a used trailer.. with the VIN, etc.

I certainly hope you weren't financially surprised with this incident.

Something weird that the "local sherrif's dept" check didn't find it to be stolen. I had thought/assumed that they would check the same db as the dmv.
Unless the local yokel just checked the police "blotter".

Does it show up stolen on CarFax ?
