I have a Watkins 1974 trailer, I was just told today that I probley cant get new brakes for it becaue its so old. Is this true? I was than told to change the brakes that I would have to change the Axles and that would change the tires also. Is this true?

Thank You

Cheri

I don't know what size trailer you have, But I've been in the trailer business since 1970. If you had brakes before and want to replace them, then maybe this information will help. If you have a 5-hole wheel, then you probably have a 3500# axle with a 10" brake and you can buy that brake today. If you have a 6-Hole wheel, You may have a 5200# axle with a 12" brake which is available. Some Mfgr's used a 6-hole wheel on a 3500# axle. If your outside bearing is Part Number L44649, You have a 3500# axle. If your outside bearing P/N is 15123 You have a 5200# axle.Hope this gives you some help and ideas.
