Location: Tenn/Ala. | You probably are lucky that this happened, so hopefully you caught it before it got bad. No- don't "gut" the bathroom, but you do need to find the leak. Need more data- was someone using the shower? Is that fresh water, or gray water? Were you on city water hookup, or pump? It could be the shower valve, or the shower pan drain. But some detective work should help you narrow it down, and then you can get into where you need to for a fix. For what it is worth- hooking to an over pressurized city water supply without using a water pressure regulator can make all kinds of fresh system leaks show up, that otherwise don't.
