I'm in the market for a small 3H LQ for trail riding and camping. I do not want a large trailer so I'm considering getting one without a shower/toilet. It seems like a large percentage of horse camping facilities have shower houses these days. What are your opinions on say "weekend packages" vs full LQs.
Also, considering 2019 Sundowner Santa Fe 6ft LQ. Would love to get feedback.
Thanks folks.

I very much enjoy my full bath in my LQ, but I was very happy for years with a cowboy shower in the first stall and a portapotty.  That's the best use of space, if you want to stay small.  The Thetford Curve is less than $100, or was when I bought mine.  I don't love using a campground bath- some are nice, some are not so.

We camp all year round. Don't have a heated storage area for the trailer. Winterizing and reversing a plumbing system is a drag. So we depend on a shower house and WAG bags as needed.

I think if it was me I would want one with a shower and toilet. Would come in handy if you are travelling and had to use it instead of finding a rest area or service station. I think it would also help with resale with a shower and toilet. JMO

I use the shower houses when available but it sure is nice to have a toilet and shower when needed.   Easy to winterize,  I can have mine winterized in about 15 minutes.

I recall camps that had awful shower houses...and I did not want athlete's foot or other...I have even seen sh$tplosions on the shower curtain! Yikes! If I didn't have an awesome bath in our LQ..I would shower off with a hose outside. I have seen some clean showerhouses too, don't want to use them either.

Haha. I agree!

Your own hot shower and toilet is worth what ever it takes.. There's nothing like a hot shower after a cold wet ride in the middle of nowhere.. I'm going to try a composting toilet this time though.

I currently have a weekender with a 6’ shortwall, and have both a separate shower and toilet. I would not be without a toilet, and even if I don’t use the shower very often, I love having it if we need it. I also use the shower for storage so it is multi-functional!

Another thing to consider is resale value. Many peopke want a toilet and a shower. I know I would not look at a trailer without them.

Winterizing takes us less than 15 minutes and 2 gallons of RV antifreeze.

You can have a cowboy shower and no toilet. This kind of setup works for others.

I use a separate place for shower when It's available, and i really enjoy hot shower houses, but mostly when I was going,
it wasn't available on horse camping, but now I would not look at a trailer.
