Location: canada | Hi folks, I can't figure out how to remove the brake battery from my trailer. It's a Jamco 3H slant bumper pull. All wires leading from the battery to the inside of the battery box seem to be soldered at both ends and if I remove the entire box there is a white wire that is easy to disconnect but a black wire that leads from the battery out of the box into another box, I could disconnect that end of the black wire but the wire itself is attached to the bottom where it enters the second box. I'd really like to do this myself and not have to take it to a mechanic! |

Location: North Carolina | Are you sure the wires are soldered to the battery and NOT to a connector? My batteries have a spade lug connection. The wire has a connector that pulls off the spade lug of the battery. |

You should just open the breakaway battery box...NOT remove it |

Location: canada | Well the site won't let me post it for some reason. It's only 1 pic yet I keep getting a message saying that my attachment has to be less than 100kb

Location: canada | OK so the battery box is open - how do I get the battery to someplace where I can charge it?

Location: Los Angeles, Ca. | Do you know what size the battery is?.....like a car battery or smaller? A small battery would need something like this:Schumacher SEM-1562A-CA 1.5 Amp Speed Charge Battery Maintainer....a larger battery would use something like this:Schumacher SE-5212A 2/10/50 Amp Automatic Handheld Battery Charger. All you need is electrical power the plug the charger into. |

Location: Wi | I can't tell from the picture. Aren't there spade terminals at the end of the wire connecting it to the battery? If so, they should be able to be pulled off the spade of the battery.
If they are soldered directly to the battery you have two choices. 1. Cut wires and resolder (will require solder iron and solder) 2. Cut wires and attach new ends (spade or ring terminals) depending on your new battery. Will require terminals, solder iron/solder or crimp tool. |

Location: Los Angeles, Ca. | Ditto above. If the battery is more than 5 years old or won't hold a charge, replace. The small battery charger is all you need to charge that battery. A cheap multimeter is all you need to test if the battery will hold a charge. All pretty simple. If in doubt, just replace the battery....$15-20 on amazon |

Location: North Carolina | That's a UB1250 battery. It has spade terminals. Pull the wires off with a pair of pliers.... Pull the white wire first. then the Red. (this is in case you happen to touch the trailer frame with the wire. Nothing will happen because it's already grounded) grip the connector where the wire enters the barrel of the connector. Pull in the direction of the wire. Not up or down... the direction of the wire. |

Location: canada | I did finally figure it out, the battery does disconnect. I had never seen nor heard of spade terminal connections and googling that gave me lots of pix yet nothing matched what I was seeing. Thanks for everyone's help and patience w/me, I really appreciate it! |
