I have been trailer shopping and looking for a used 4 horse in the $10,000 price range. I found a 1998 4 Star Trailer and I also found a 2003 exiss trailer. The four star is $2,000 more than the excess. I like them both but I am concerned about the 4-star being too old. I'm not afraid of age but I know it makes resale difficult. What are your guys's thoughts as to which way to go.

Well, how long do you plan on keeping this trailer?

My old C&C 2+1 I've owned for 10 years thus far and plan on keeping it another 10...

In fact, I picked up an ancient Kingston bumper pull for vet visits and the like...just finished putting a whole bunch of new pop rivets this summer and replaced the latches and backup lights in it to make it last another 10 years...

Depending on the overall condition of the trailers, the 4-star will better serve you and hold your money if you ever sell it. They are a fine trailer. The other brand  tends to get people on LQ design and price point. Only your gut can tell you....you get what you pay for. Good luck to you!

Personally if it were my choice, I would go with the 4Star hands down. They are one of the best built trailers on the market and are well known for their quality and durability. I don’t think you can go wrong with a 4Star.

What makes it better built? Can you explain what to look at? I've looked at several models of trailers and exiss seems pretty good compared to the others. I know 4 star is better but what makes it better

Better =     quality of welds, structural supports, hinges, craftsmanship.  All of this leads to a more desirable trailer. All of this has nothing to do with how the living quarters is or appears. Many living qtrs are installed by other companies,  ( trail boss, outlaw , the list goes on )
