Location: western PA | Under the dash, near the top of the steering column, usually on the right side, is an open female 4 pin receptacle. From Ford and some auto parts stores, for about $10 you can purchase a male 4 pin plug that will fit. The plug is wired with colour coded wires that are used to wire into your aux brake controller. One will be a source hot, a ground, lead from the truck's brake pedal and hot to the trailer. The controller is usually mounted to your lower dash where you have an easy access for adjustments. It's an easy do it yourself type of job, that many dealerships charge about $100 for the installation. You should have a six or seven pin plug on the rear of your truck for the trailer plug.
