My husband and I are looking into a 2 horse with a small LQ and room for dog boxes.  Anyone have any creative ideas that work well?  I am thinking of a 2 horse slant with a rear tack and  mid tack for the dog boxes but I am trying to keep the length of the trailer as short as possible.  Thank you for any ideas.

We pulled a custom designed 2 horse straight load Sundowner Sunlite for years (15 to be exact!)that was equiped with 4 dog boxes. If your worried about length, I would stick with a straight load. The dog boxes were stacked, 2 per side under the manger area. They were not vented well enough for us, so we just used them as storage and kept kennels in the back. I would add the ability to have vents come from the top for more air. If you let me know your email address, I can send you a picture of our old trailer and can tell you how I would modify it. Leon Barker in NC has done a few of these trailers in new models. Lots of field trail/bird dog trailers in this area! Good luck!

These folks build a trailer like that.... #85 on this page,  http://www.goretrailers.com/options.htm  don't see any pictures though. Maybe you could talk to them and get some ideas.

A friend of mine has a 3 horse Elite GN with stock sides, a 6' straight wall DR, a huge mid tack with walk in doors on both sides. They built 9 dog boxes on the back wall of the mid tack (3 high, 3 wide) out of wood. Trailer is 8' wide , 7'6" tall. They have a roof mount exhaust fan along with a A/C unit for the dogs, thats seperate from the DR area.

Some of the best straight load bumper pull trailer I've seen that were setup to handle dogs and horses were made by Collin-Arndt. Give them a call and tell them you want to see pictures of their typical field trial bumper pull setup.
