Has anyone used these?  Our barn floor is dirt and in the desert drainage isn't a problem but since my filly had rocks in her intestines when they opened her up I wan't to put something in her pen to make sure she doesn't eat any more.  Getting them all out is impossible this whole area is a rock/sand pit.

 I don't know how well this will work for me since it is so windy here.  We have a problem with bedding staying in place and this requires lots of shavings.  Any other suggestions that doesn't require shavings?  Or as much?  It says to use the shavings to protect the mats, my horses are barefoot do you think they would require as much bedding?

If you go that route you might try the pelleted bedding on top of it. I used it for awhile (it's a 2 hour drive to anyone who carries it-nuff said?) and you can wet those down periodically to hold them. Would straight rubber mats work for you? I have the same wind problem here in southeast Kansas-on a particularly windy day all the shavings blow through the upper grid and into the barn.
