Does anyone know the facts about California's new Smog Laws?

I've been looking at used Sport Chassiss and was told by a few truck Service Centers, that any vehile older then 2007 will be subject to the new smog laws.

Service Centers indicated to me that on the older vehicles that complete exhaust systems will have to be replaced and in some cases new engines would have to be installed?

Costs could reange between &7500 to over $40,000. If you don't comply you will not be able to registar your truck?

Any help would be great..........................................Thanks

I would call your local DMV.  Get the story straight from the horses mouth. Or should I say Government agency.
