 | Hello, I'm new; I have a general question about electric jacks.  I have an older small 2 horse alum GN with a weekender type LQ and manual jack.  I generally haul alone and am just sick of the cranking to hook/unhook.  I have been looking at electrics - first as a reinstall (completely new jack unit), and lately I have found the 12v dc motor upgrade.  What concerns do I have about installing (rather, having installed) the add-on (motor only)?  Will I still be able to manually jack my trailer should I need it?  What can go wrong with an install, and are there any compatibility problems or issues that I should be aware of?  What about the useful life of these motors? The main brand I have seen is Atwood, though I am sure there are others.  I have seen them in the $275 neighborhood, but have seen some on eBay, for much much less.  Of course if I buy retail I have warranty and all that, but I'm a gal that loooves a bargain (and I have to watch the bottom line, too). Thanks for anything you may have to offer.   Mary |
