Location: Pennsylvania | Howdy! This is my first ever post on the Horse Talk forum! I need some help. I want to post my show cart for sale, but am uncertain how to properly measure the length of the shafts. What is the proper method? In other words, what two points are measured to determine the length? Is the entire shaft measured from front to the very back, behind the seat? I would be most grateful if someone could answer my question. Thank you and HAVE A GREAT DAY! |

Location: South Central OK | A a cart driver I'm shocked I don't know the answer to your question, I used to think I was smarter than average yet childbirth has left my brain all mushy... I'd call your local driving club or saddle shop that sells driving equipment and ask them how to measure your cart, based on style it might be different so make sure you tell them exactly what your cart is when asking. |

Location: Vermont | You measure shafts from where the swingletree bolt is to the end of the shafts |

Location: Arkansas | And what lengths of shafts are appropriate for what size animals... a helpful hint along that line is useful in your sale ad, as well... |

Location: Pennsylvania | Got too darn "click happy" there!!! Sorry! Anyhow, thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. Would you believe I contacted the manufacturer of MY cart and they never bothered to reply. Then I contacted a different cart manufacturer and same thing...no reply. Makes me wonder what has happened to good old fashioned Customer Service. Thanks again! |

Most of the Meadowbrook ops in PA are real small companies...NO unessential personnel... |

Location: Newton, NJ | You don't need to be an ADS member to access the info on the ADS (American Driving Society) website. CLick on the link that PaulChristiansen provided. On the left side menu, click on Driving Basics then on the Carts & Carriages link. Excellent info! |
