Location: Central Arkansas | How many of you folks out there have purchased a 2008 Ford F350 or F450 in the last year? How is it working out for you? Have you installed any upgrades to it such as engine brake or performance chip? Any new must have accessories? |

I read the above forums regularly and get the impression that most people like the 6.4L engine, except for the fuel economy. The engine uses a regen cycle that periodically consumes more fuel to burn up the captured particulates in the diesel particulate filter (DPF). This was also the cause of the infamous exhaust "flamethrower" effect that plagued some of the first generation engines. They fixed that issue, fortunately. |

Location: Wright City, Mo | I purchased a 2008 F350 SuperCrew Dually with a 4:10 rear end back in August and am currently getting around 13.5 mpg regular driving and 10-10.5 hauling our 4 horse gooseneck. Just got back from a show yesterday and it hauled flawlessly. Haven't had to add anything except the gooseneck hitch. The integrated trailer brake works great and is tied into the transmission. When you tap the brakes to slow down the transmission downshifts to assist you. I'm happy as can be with mine. Mileage is not great but better than my previous truck, a Dodge 3500 Dually with a V10 engine. It only got 10 mpg everyday, 7-8 when hauling. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Be interesting to see the $$ difference between the gas vs diesel, different mpg's, different cost per gallon, different up-front costs, different back-end cost (ie: trade value), and last but not least, cost of routine maintenance.Around here, diesel .80 more per gallon. |
