Location: Florence, SC | Hey Acy. Uwharrie is one of my favorite places to go. Make sure your horses are in pretty good shape and shod at the very least on the fronts (I'd recommend all the way around). I've stayed at two places in Uwharrie: 4B Farm and Cane Brake Campground. 4B is a family run place with barn stalls, covered corrals, uncovered corrals, and I think they'll let you tie out if you wanted. The bath house is nice and they have a tack shop in case you forgot something. I know there are electric hook ups and I forget if there is water. They have a website http://www.fourbfarm.com/ . Canebrake is a public equestrian campground. They have nice (primitive) sites that are spaced out, most have shady trees, and more private than the line up at 4B but you have to line tie or bring your own stalls. There is water centrally located for the horses (two wash stalls) or filling up your water tank but I don't know about drinking it. There are bath houses but we didn't use them (shower in trailer was more convenient). Canebrake has direct access to the trails and trail maps can be found at the entrance to the grounds. 4B is about a 30 minute ride to the main trails. If you want to look up Cane Brake, you can google it and it'll come right up. If you have any other questions, I'll try to help out.
