Location: GA | Stats on the Truck: F 250 short bed 7.3 L powerstroke diesel Follwoing are the specs for my truck: Maximum GCWR - 20,000 lbs Maximum Trailer weight 10,000 lbs
Stats on the trailer: The trailer weighs 8800 lbs empty Trailer plus horses, etc weighs ~ 13,000 lbs
Does anyone have any idea if this truck is rated to pull this trailer?

Location: sc | I belive that 10,000 is the BP limit. I suspect the 5er/GN limit is 20,000 minus the weight of the truck......say the truck weighs 7500#, that leaves you 12,500 for the trailer. My guess is that you will be fine. |

Location: Hookerton, NC | I have a 2000, F250 and I pull a 3h GN w/ weekend package loaded down every weekend. I have pulled all over the east coast on flat and in the mountains with no trouble. |

Location: Brighton, Colorado | I wouldn't think twice about it in my 97. IMO, you could pull 15000 all day long with a 2000. If you have an automatic, get a temp gauge for it.
I regularly pull between 5k to over 20k in the mountains of Colorado with mine and have never had an issue.

Location: western PA | I have a SRW extended cab with the long wheelbase and 8' bed. My longest trailer is a three horse, 13' SW with a MT. I've been from MI to New England and with the cruise and air on, the truck will pull any mtn at the posted speed limit on any road I've been on. Not one mechanical malfunction except for the damage caused by a front tire blow out. I added a transmission temperature gauge, when I had a shift kit installed. With the addition of synthetic transmission fluid, my indicated temperatures never get dangerous, regardless of how steep and long the grades are that I've traveled. Location: South Central OK | Be aware of the limitations on your insurance coverage. If you are found to be over your truck's recommended maximums then your insurance will not pay any claims, leaving you legally naked when you need them most. I know a forensic mechanic and it's always the first thing he looks into when he gets to a scene...that little blackbox in your truck will tell on you! Remember the insurance company likes to keep all that money they make, their first line of thinking is "how can we get out of this." |

Of course theyll try not to pay, they dont want to pay for drunk drivers either........I bet you wont get you policy renewed, but they will pay (as little as possible). And "the little black box" has no idea how much you weigh. |

Location: South Central OK | Urban legend...funny that's what happens in real life. I recently went on one of his "calls" and I can tell you they know more than you'd want them to, and the claim wasn't paid. In most cases when he's called out they deny the claim and it holds in court. Keep driving over the limits and pray he's not hired to investigate by your insurance company. |

Location: sc | Pehaps I should elaborate my position. My insurance policy will pay IF I am legal, as I suspsect most will. I am legally registered to 25,000# GCW on my 2500HD Dmax. Manufacturers do not get to make the law in reference to GVW/GCW, they are only suggestions related to performance and warranty issues. This "insurance wont pay if your over GVWR/GCWR" thing has been beat to death all over the web. Its simply not true as a whole. |
