Location: Danielsville Georgia | The spare on our LQ trailer is mounted on the left rear corner of the tailer.Spare last year just peeled a chunk off on the very top just all of a sudden.(sun damage)I had four Cooper Lt 235-85-r16 load range Es stored in a buliding.About 50%tread left.I took the BEST one of those for a spare on the LQ.Bought a nice horsey spare tire cover(black) and put on it.Wife just walked by the trailer and came and got me.That Cooper blew UP! Split the NEW spare tire cover wide open, tread is peeled off better then a qtr.l way around tire.Steel cord is actually hanging OUT of tire and NEW cover.Like WOW never heard or saw anything like this since Firestone Radial 500s back in the 70s. You'd swear the this tire peeled while running on the interstate.

Location: Texas | How old were the tires? Stuff like that can happen if they are old and have rotted. Tires supposedly don't like to not be used either. |

Location: western PA | Thank heaven that it didn't happen at speed on the interstate. I've never used Cooper tires, but have been led to understand that they have a good reputation among truckers. Were they of an older build date? I would say you are most fortunate. I have never heard of a failure like this. You're not Irish are you? The Firestone debacle did not end with the 500's. BOL Gard |

Location: michigan | We had a tractor tire do that. We had been doing something that morning, can't recall, but as we were sitting in the house eating some lunch, there was a huge explosion- the tire just BLEW- spewed calcium cholride 20 away. Had someone been standing there, I can't imagine the damage to the body. |

Location: Danielsville Georgia | It was 5 years old or so.Been in storage, dry and outa light for the most part.I put on the trailer as a spare before I got ill.Guess last Feburary or so with the NEW spare tire cover. It even left black marks and small chunks of rubber on the side of the trailer.Split that tire cover wide open.I worked for Firestone back in the radial 500 era.Not saying tire had a issue being a Cooper.Just shocked any moderen day radial would do this SITTING and covered! It did since last rain,oh early this week we got .4 of a inch.No water in cover or in tire etc.

Location: Southern New Mexico | I had a tire on an old car do that. It had a bubble in it. But it only blew a small part of the tred off and none of the wires were "out of place". Made one heck of a noise though!! |
