Location: Austin, TX | We just bought a 3-horse Four Star trailer with living quarters that has a cowboy shower and we are planning to use a metal water heater pan as the shower floor in the first stall. We wanted to see if anyone had ideas on supporting a shower curtain. Any help or ideas would be great! Thinking about bending an electrical conduit into a ring at this time. Any thoughts? We've been browsing posts for quite a while and appreciate all the insight we have gotten! Especially about stocking the living quarters! I just changed the sink faucet to a pull out sprayer type to allow easy hair washing!Howdy from Texas! |

Can't you buy one from a local horse trailer dealer? how about going to a Lowe's or similar place and get one of those curved shower rods

Or check a RV place to see what they have for outdoor RV showers.

Location: western PA | Close the divider, put towels over the windows and you're good to go. The divider works well, both as a towel rack and soap dish. Gard

Location: Texas | In an old steel trailer I used for years I had a square made out of pvc pipe that I had curtains hung on. I supported the square by using c-clamps on the square roof supports and tying it up on at least three sides. Don't know if you can use the clamps like that in your trailer but it's simple, cheap, can be taken apart and weighs very little. |

Location: Coconut Creek, FL | I agree with Gard, been using a cowboy shower for the past 5 years and I've never had anyone try to peek in, etc. People don't even realize you're in their taking a shower, etc... Believe me, ya get used to stripping down and getting clean. When I arrive at the campground, I do wash out the horse area and let it dry. I also stand in a clean muck bucket (never used for mucking). Less water on the floor... |

Location: Newton, NJ | I think the water heater pan is a great idea. I have seen them made of plastic in a square shape to be used under a washer. These usually have some sort of a hole to which you can attach a hose so that the water can be directed out of the trailer into a bucket and you don't let the soapy water out onto the ground. How about using an expandable(spring loaded) shower rod or curtain rod that could be temporarily installed across the width of the trailer? I usually just put towels over the windows in the back of the trailer, but this year I intend to make some plain curtains and try to hang them with suction cup type hooks. |

Location: Austin, TX | Wow, thanks gang! Greyhorse, I'm sure the clamping would work on the ceiling but would also love to hear more from QPlady about the RV shower ringy thingy! We're trying to keep the floor dry around the 'shower' pan so want a ringed curtain to stand in. Thanks for all your help. |

i did the same thing in my sundowner trailer...hang the PVC shower rod from one of the roof vents, use a Coleman's Hot Water On Demand for my showers. Worked for many years. Now I haul with an RV...and I LOVE my bathroom!

Yes,you think that, but,I laughed when my friend told this story. After riding all day, obviously they wanted to shower at night. She was in the trailer with the light on,and trying to stay as hidden as she could. When she turned off the water, she could hear talking. She raised up to peek out of the window, and there were a couple of guys standing at just the right distance to be able to see in,facing the window, and enjoying their beers and the show. |

Location: Coconut Creek, FL | well at least they were entertained..... I'm fairly tall (5'7") and I do wonder about people riding by on horseback, so I make sure I have my contacts in and could duck down. If I don't have them in, I'm pretty blind. I do block the window in the 1st stall, so they could only see in from the right side of the trailer. I've thought about hanging a shower curtain and would probably just use bailing twine & carabiners to attach it to the bars on the window and stall divider. Nothing fancy and besides if they really want a show...... |

| Once you get a rod to hang a shower curtain from, you may want to take a look at the new eXpandable Shower Curtain. You can view it online at www.campingworld.com and then just type in expandable shower curtain at the search box. Takes a tiny space and gives you loads of elbow room. A simple expander plate, line, and attachment hook does the job. Great pictures of how it works.
