Location: Fort Worth, Tx | Actually, I worked with a trainer who tried beer for a non-sweater. I believe she poured a can over his food every morning. Did not seem to help though. Is that why you are asking? |

Location: Florence, SC | The beer trick works or, at least, it did for my trainer. Had a horse that just would not sweat and would get over heated. Gave it a beer in the AM and..ta da...wet saddle pad. |

Location: Nebraska | Well I'm sure you have heard of people giving beer to their horses, myself I've seen a horse grab a bottle of beer in his mouth and drink it. I was wondering if anyone has seen it or done it. |

Location: Claxton, Ga. | Good friend of mine has a horsey alcoholic. Old owner would ride him to the bar and park him outside. Give him beer while he was there. You can't even leave a coke can laying around or he will grab it with his mouth and turn it up. Needless to say he was quit grumpy for a little while. They sent him to AA meetings LOL.....

Location: Burleson, TX | We "fed" one our non-sweaters a beer a day for a while. Turned out we were having to buy more then a six-pack every six days. Barn help sure seemed happy, though. |

Location: Vanzant, Missouri | A friend of mine said she had a pony that her dad gave beer to all the time and the pony would get drunk off of it and would stagger....She said that it was a regular thing for both of them and the pony would pitch a fit if he didn't share the beer....One of mine loved pepsi.... |

Location: pensacola, fl | My daughter (at the time was about 7) had a older horse that was going through a mild colic. My husband (not a horse person) took over for me walking the horse around. I ran inside the house for a few minutes and when I came back found my husband sharing his beer with the horse. About and hour later the horse was fine. I am sure it was a Coincidence but my daughter tells everybody how daddy cured her horse with beer!! Now, you can't walk anywhere near the animal with a drink in your hand, he will knock you down to see if you have beer!! |

Location: Roanoke IL | My horse loves southern comfort...she (like me) won't touch a beer. I guess great tastes drink alike. I never thought she'd drink it...I had an old bottle and dumped a few shots in her bucket...she licked it clean...and now if I have a drink she smells it and insists on having some...of course not in excess, but then again, how much would my 1600lb horse have to drink to suffer any complications...I don't know about you but if I bought that much alcohol it sure wouldn't be going into my horse....though I do remember hearing that whiskey was an old cowboy remedy for colic....not sure of its validity. Location: Dublin city ireland | Hello all you horse lovers just joined your site forum today i think its great talking about beer for horses in ireland where i come from the beer we give to our horses is bottled guiness we give it to them when they are off there food it seems to do the trick in a few days they are as rite as rain just mix it with there feed they love it that much they nearly eat the feed bucket as well |
